Crew Role Tier List

This list ranks jobs, not skins. A role is S-tier if a weak player in that seat wipes a competent lobby, or if a strong player in that seat salvages a messy one. Read the crew hub for duties, then use this page to draft.

S-tier: Pilot

One bad Pilot outweighs three saints. Throttle slammed, nose wandering, seat abandoned — the route ends no matter how fast the wrench arrives. A good Pilot, documented on the Pilot guide, creates time. Time is how cabin and engineer look skilled. Protect this seat. Do not give it to the person who has not read controls.

S-tier does not mean “most fun” or “most clips.” It means highest wipe leverage.

A-tier: Cabin crew

Cabin is the silent complete condition. Ignored medicine and unconscious passengers stack until the landing does not count. In public twenties, cabin is often the actual shortage because everyone is sightseeing. A disciplined aisle circuit, as written on cabin crew, turns chaotic servers into finished ones.

In a coordinated four-stack, cabin can slip under engineer if your Pilot is messy and the airframe is always broken. In a clean four-stack, cabin stays A because completes still die in the seats.

A-tier: Engineer

Engineer shares A because engine prompts are run-killers when late, and non-events when early. The engineer guide is a pathing document. A player who already knows the terminal is worth more than a second Pilot. A player who learns the map after the fire light is a tourist.

If your friend group never sees mechanical warnings, engineer looks like C-tier. That is a sample-size error. The first double failure will re-educate you. Keep the role assigned anyway.

B-tier: Floater / luggage lead

The fourth body who owns bags, fuel overflow, and the second request is B. Essential on the ground, replaceable in a calm cruise, priceless when two warnings land at once. The crew planner treats this person as the flexible slot. Do not confuse floater with “no job.” No job is D-tier and it is how public lobbies feel.

C-tier: Extra Pilot, camera operator, script kid

Second yoke. Person filming. Person who opened an injector. None of these complete routes. The camera can wait until after the landing. The script belongs in the trash and on the safety page.

How stack size rewrites the list

  • Solo: You are every tier at once. Survival depends on flying calmly enough to stand up. Pilot skill still gates the run.
  • Duo: Pilot S, sweeper A. The sweeper is cabin plus engineer. Do not both sit up front.
  • Trio or four: The printed S/A/A/B chart holds.
  • Public twenty: Cabin rises. You need people who will actually walk the aisle while twelve avatars idle.

How this list will break

If a patch makes mechanical failures constant and cabin quiet, engineer becomes the second S. If a patch makes passenger states brutal, cabin becomes the second S. We will not reshuffle because a YouTuber had one funny crash. We will reshuffle when the Updates Hub shows a real systems change.

Draft with this chart. Then be kind to the person who took cabin. They are why your Pilot clip has an ending.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best role in Bumpy Flight?

Pilot has the highest wipe leverage. The best role for your lobby is still whatever job was empty last crash, often cabin.

Is engineer better than cabin?

They share A-tier. Engineer spikes when systems fail; cabin spikes on every ignored passenger. Assign both.

Where do extra public players go?

Overflow cabin and cargo. They do not become extra Pilots and they do not stand in the engineer’s way.
